Additional Information on ISDN 10/20/30 Services:

What is an ISDN 10/20/30 Service?

ISDN 10/20/30 services are also known as Primary Rate Access (PRA) services or Primary Rate Interface (PRI) services. Telstra ISDN 10/20/30 services can be supplied in multiples of 10 channels. The equivalent service form Optus can provide any number of digital channels between 10 and 30. If more are required, an additional service can be installed. These options make ISDN 10/20/30 services from IF Telecom very convenient and cost effective. Typical applications for ISDN 10/20/30 include call centres, internet services providers and larger companies with a need for multiple incoming and outgoing extensions. ISDN 10/20/30 services are business only services and are only really suitable for mid to large sized organisations.

How does ISDN 10/20/30 work?

ISDN 10/20/30 technology converts a standard analogue telephone line (Unconditional Local Loop (ULL)) into many separate digital bearer channels. Each digital ISDN bearer channel has an available bandwidth of 64kbps which can be used for voice, video, data or multimedia calls. These ISDN channels can be aggregated together to give almost 2Mbps bandwidth with can be used as a high speed data link. If an ISDN 10/20/30 service is to be installed, the telephone system must be ISDN 10/20/30 compatible, and this may require a specialist primary rate card to be installed.

How can I connect to an ISDN 10/20/30 service?

Unlike ISDN2, users of ISDN 10/20/30 must use a PABX  and this PABX must be equipped with a primary rate access card.

How many users can an ISDN 10/20/30 service support?

A primary rate ISDN 10/20/30 service is suitable for a wide range of organisations from medium-sized SMEs upwards. The number of people the service supports depends on the nature of the customer's business and their level of telephone usage. In most office environments no more than 30% to 40% of telephone lines are in use at any one time. Therefore an ISDN 10/20/30 service is typically suitable for up to 30 people. Speak to one of our experts about what ISDN 10/20/30 service is best suited for your business.

What is Direct In-Dial (DID)?

Direct In Dial is sometimes referred to as a 100 number in-dial range. You can allocate a Direct Indial number to an individual, a department or a particular program within your business. This number can be dialled directly from the outside world, reducing the number of telephone calls that have to be answered by a central receptionist or switchboard operator. You could, for example, you can allocate a Direct Indial number to a specific advertisement to enable operators to respond with an appropriate greeting.

When customers call your Direct Indial number, your ISDN 10/20/30 service will automatically search for a free line to receive the call. A Direct Indial number range may span a number of ISDN services in order to provide sufficient lines for both incoming and outgoing calls.

On outgoing calls, your Direct Indial extension number can be passed to the network, if your equipment supports this function. The network then uses your Direct Indial extension number to present to services you have called with calling number display. The network may also use your Direct Indial extension number for extension level billing. See What is extension level billing? for more details.

If your equipment does not support passing of your Direct Indial extension number to the network, then the network will use your group directory number for both presentation and billing purposes. In-dial ranges are always consecutive blocks of 100 numbers. They always start with 00 as the last two digits and end with 99 as the last two digits.

Direct In-Dial (DID) is available on all ISDN services supplied by IF Telecom. This includes Telstra ISDN 10/20/30, Optus and AAPT.

How long does it take to order and install an ISDN service?

The SLA for ISDN 10/20/30 installation is 25 business days from the time the application is completed and signed.

FREE Installation offer:

Free installations are available on all ISDN 10/20/30 services over a minimum 24 month agreement.
