Meet The Team - Andrew Branson - Managing Director

Andrew is IF Telecom’s Managing Director and Co-Founder. Having just finished school he waved goodbye to England’s mountains green at the modest age of 18 and set off for Australia. What was originally intended to be a Gap Year spent backpacking ended up becoming an emigration and the first step of the journey towards the founding of IF Telecom. When Andy arrived here, in order to finance his travelling he found a job in direct sales which coincidently involved the selling of telecommunications products on the streets of Sydney. It was soon obvious that Andy had flair for business and, in particular, the art of sales. Just over a year later he returned to England for a few weeks to discuss with Rich the possibility of setting up a Telecommunications Service Provider in Australia. The idea was to plug a gap in the market by specialising in the looking after of small and medium sized businesses. They jumped on a plane and the rest, as they say, is history and in 2005 IF Telecom became a reality.

As Managing Director, Andy is responsible for the overall running of the company. With his background rooted firmly in sales he takes a special interest in this side of the business and assumes charge of recruiting the right personnel to sell for IF Telecom. True to their reputation, salesmen are generally are a high-maintenance demographic that require constant attention and those in the telecommunications industry are no different. Against this backdrop, the strongest aspect of Andy’s management repertoire is his interpersonal skills. He is a top class man-manager and motivator and has the gift of being able to draw the best qualities out of the team, exemplified by IF Telecom’s surge in growth through sales in every month to date .On top of driving customer acquisition and staff recruitment he keeps a firm grasp on the company finances and cash flow. According to those who have known him a while he has always been a bit of a banker.

Andy’s number one passion in life is football, or soccer as it is known in Australia, and specifically Southampton Football Club. Who? I hear you all say. Situated on the south coast, they were once a Premier League force to be reckoned with but have since gone rapidly downhill. They can now be found languishing in the lower leagues of English football. Despite this massive fall from grace they have retained his support and their memory lives on with IF Telecom sporting the red and white logo, reminiscent of the Southampton kit. As well as being an armchair sports fan Andy does also occasionally engage in the odd bit of physical activity. He is a keen long distance runner and also enjoys his 5-a-side football as well as thrashing around the roads on his motorbike. All in all he’s pretty active for a man who was clearly built for comfort.
