Meet The Team - Richard Branson - Marketing Director

Rich is IF Telecom’s Marketing Director and Co-Founder. He arrived in Australia from the UK with a strong background in Marketing. He has previously represented a string of internationally-recognised brands and worked alongside some of the most experienced and recognised figures in the marketing industry. Having pre-identified a gap in the telecommunications market, on arrival Down Under he and his brother, Andrew, went about planning how IF Telecom could best fill this gap. At first, Rich’s primary role was to market the company and brand while at the same time laying the foundations to facilitate the future development of a solid customer base. Testament to his success in this challenge is the multiple rewards for growth that IF Telecom has received year after year since its inception in 2005. Since then the company has gone from strength to strength. Rich now splits his time between managing the marketing side of the business, directing the Member Support, which in 2009 won the Australian Achievers Award for Customer Service, and filling the role of product manager. Apparently there is a guy over at Virgin who shares the same name. No doubt he thinks that just because he has the same name his company will be as successful as IF Telecom. Dream on mate.
Many see the weekend as a time to relax, recover from the week and recharge the batteries before heading back into the fray on a Monday morning. Not Rich. His social calendar rarely displays a weekend gap, ensuring the prospect of him enjoying a period of quiet and recuperation is about as likely as receiving quality customer service from Telstra. He would not have it any other way. Sports wise, Rich is a key player for the IF Stars 5-a-side football team where his lethal left foot from set-pieces has dismantled the hopes of many an opposing team. His expertise in the swimming pool has also drawn plaudits and it has been mooted that if he perhaps drank a few less beers and, as a result, became slightly more stream-line, he could really excel in the sport. Rich has also been lumbered with the unfortunate burden of being what many would call, a ‘nerd’. This tag refers to his relative expertise in computers and his resultant position as the office make-shift IT Manager. He claims to not enjoy the responsibility but, like all good managers, he sucks it up and takes it on none the less.
